Leaders and Technology: A Tale of Two Very Diverse Entities

Colleagues and Dr. M.,

Many of you are well aware of my keen interest in diversity, regardless of its nature.

During the past 3 weeks, I have come to the conclusion that although we as leaders are diverse, technology is as diverse.

At your leisure, read the following article.  I do believe that it speaks to us on so many levels.

Convergence of Technology and Diversity...

This short but truly enriching course has been a blast!

Best,
Robert aka "The Professor"

The Technological Growth of Today's Leader(s)

WHOA doesn't begin to explain the whirl wind of learning that I gained these past few weeks.

Upon enrolling in LEST 820, I felt pretty good about my understanding of technology and its multiple facets.  But to be quite honest, I was taken back when I was introduced and/or re-introduce to Wiki, audacity, blogging, technology planning, technological infrastructures, and etc...

I truly had to put my thinking cap back on and re-evaluate how I viewed technology, especially from a leadership perspective.  Each assigned chapter in Oz, opened my eyes to situations that I never considered and/or to new ways of thinking and doing. Even more useful was the F2F activities that we were engaged in.

But as a leader using, learning and empowering with technologies in the 21st Century, I would like to share what a colleague at Kansas State University told me.  They said that,

" Administrators need a host of skills... There are a small number of administrators who consider themselves technology leaders. Few will admit that they know all there is to know about technology leadership. The quest for understanding technology leadership and technology integration appears to be a lifelong rather than a short journey." (Gerald Bailey)

So in conclusion, I'm confident to say that I have learned more than I came in the course knowing. That was the goal, right? LEST 820 was awesome, but we all must remember that we're in this thing called technology for a life time.

ENJOY the ride!

Who Is Really The Change Agent?

Happy Friday Colleagues,

I'm reminded of Leo Tolstoy's quote, "Everyone thinks about changing the world, but never about changing himself."

What is your opinion of the above statement/image? And let me say now, forgive me for the little person's comment. However it does seem appropriate.

The following article is very interesting:

Academic technology and the future of higher education...

Have a great weekend!
